** Portrait description submitted with my entry into The Lester Prize ~
"Mitchella Hutchins is a prominent Aboriginal businesswoman, mother of four children and foster parent to over twenty children. The eldest grandchild of Vilma and George Webb, who bestowed upon her the responsibility of cultural caretaker and knowledge sharer. Mitchella's telling of the Dreaming story of why we are all here and what our shared purpose is together. There are ancient truths she knows that inspire me at my core in wanting to know more. To understand at a depth I haven’t sat at before. Others are in need of her message also. That is why I sought to paint her."

Biggest thanks to both Mitchella for kindly agreeing to let me paint her, as well as the talented Wendy Slee, whose fabulous capture of Mitchella inspired me to want to know more about this special woman and to which Wendy kindly gave me permission to reference.
'First Lights - Gracetown' below, where..."Led by Wardandi matriarchs, Mitchella Hutchins and Vivian Brockman-Webb, First Lights — Cowaramup brings an ancient tale transcending space and time. This story takes place in the beginning, when life stirred into existence and formed a great assembly to decide who would be Custodian of all creation. Located on the shores of Gracetown, the bay will be transformed, opening a portal to a time when the world was Dreaming." Just magical and wondrous & captured my muse & inquiring soul!
